Harvey Weinstein has been rotting in a Los Angeles jail facility for some time now that he is a convicted sex offender. The accused rapist has been forced to deal with the awful conditions of the jail and live a life much less luxurious than he was used to while he worked as one of the biggest Hollywood producers in the industry. Because of all the privilege, he was used to experiencing while a free man, Weinstein proven to authorities that he thinks he is above the law – after he was caught smuggling something sweet into his jail cell as a little treat.

What was it that Weinstein risked everything to smuggle into the Los Angeles jail? It was a container of Milk Duds candies. Sources have shared the news with the tabloid outlet TMZ. The source said that Weinstein was found with the Milk Duds after a November meeting with his lawyer Shawn Burkley. This has led some people to believe that Burkley might have slipped the chewy candy into Weinstein’s possession to help ease the convicted rapist’s struggle.

Meanwhile, Weinstein claims it was all a “misunderstanding” and that he should not be getting punished for having the contraband.

“This was an innocent misunderstanding,” Weinstein, 69, told TMZ in a statement Thursday via his rep Juda Engelmayer. “It will not happen again. I have been a model inmate, following the rules and regulations, and I am sincerely sorry.”

Weinstein claims that he had the Milk Duds in his possession since he was taken from New York to Los Angeles via extradition. However, law enforcement authorities believe that he might have gotten possession of the candy from a member of his legal team.

Another lawyer representing the disgraced movie mogul, Mark Werksman, said that neither the jail nor the court took any legal action against Weinstein for having smuggled the candy into jail.

Weinstein’s lead lawyers, Werksman and Alan Jackson, told Variety: “We have been informed about this and are very sorry it happened. It had not happened before and never happened since. Harvey has been a model inmate and intends to continue as such.”

Despite trying to sneak Milk Duds into the Twin Towers jail facility in downtown Los Angeles, he will not be further punished than he already is. He will remain in custody, serving his sentence in the facility’s Correctional Treatment Center medical unit due to the 69-year-old’s strained health condition.

Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years in prison on March 11 after being found guilty of rape in the third degree and criminal sexual assault. He is currently awaiting trial on federal charges that he raped a woman in 2013 and performed forcible sex acts on two other women in 2006.

Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex. Milk Duds, oxcn the other hand, are delicious and definitely not worth going to jail over – no matter how good they may be.
