When a two-headed cat was born, the community of feline lovers held their collective breath. They hoped that this cat, known as a Janus cat – named after the Roman god with two heads – would live a long, healthy life. Unfortunately, the little kitten, named Biscuits and Gravy, passed away just three days after entering the world as a miracle kitten – and now the world needs to know why.
Images of Biscuits and Gravy quickly made their way around the internet. People were eager to follow the unique kitten on Instagram and the other social media platforms where the life of the cat was going to be documented.
The little kitten was born with two faces, which earned it the name Biscuits and Gravy. In hours, the cat acquired thousands of followers on social media, with fourteen thousand on Instagram alone.
The cat was born on May 20 but died just three days later. Biscuits and Gravy was born on a farm in Oregon. The kitten was one of the rarest Janus cats ever born because the kitten had two noses, four eyes, and two tiny mouths. It almost looked like the cat had put its face up against a mirror – or a Photoshop artist had done their work on it.
Not only did the two-faced feline have a working brain stem, but it could also eat from both mouths and even meow. It was an extremely adorable kitten despite the strange birth defect.
At the time of its birth, Biscuits and Gravy was pretty healthy, all things considered. Even the family’s veterinarian reported the kitten to be in good health.
The family wrote on Facebook: “He ate a lot, and he peed and pooped a lot. He just didn’t grow. It’s hard work for a little guy like him to support a large head with two complete faces.”
The family also wrote, “Biscuits and Gravy is definitely a gift for us, and we are thankful that God has given us the opportunity to care for him as long as he is with us. We are doing everything we can for the little sweetie, and he is quite a fighter. Thank you all for loving this little one, he is a lucky little kitty.”
When the cat passed into the afterlife, a representative of the family, Kyla, shared an update online that said:
“I want to thank everyone so much for your kindness and love. This story has been a story of life and how very precious it is, whether days or years, whether animal or human, life is so very precious, and every single life is unique. I feel so blessed to be a part of the story of Biscuits and Gravy and how he brought joy and hope to so many people. We loved him and cared for him, and he passed in my hands. We are thankful to still have his siblings to care for, and they are just as precious. I can’t express to you how much this experience has meant to me. Thank you all.”
